Preferred Accommodation Option

Accommodation Information. Please Read Carefully.

In 2017 we will only have access to one side of the Waddamana site. This is the Frank and Helen side of the road with the 4 ‘managers’ art deco style houses and 2 fibro bunk style houses. The other side of the road with the kitchen/dining area, bunk houses, and registration house is not available to us.

Accommodation. We will only have accommodation for up to 28 men in houses. So, we have had to make decisions on who goes where.

Houses. The 6 houses will be preferentially offered to;

  1. Older men > 65 yo,
  2. Men with special health needs or ailments (ie breathing machines),
  3. Content Team, and
  4. Interstate men.

The rest of men attending will have to camp (own tents or shared) or bring their campers.

Camping. Here are the categories of who will be asked to camp or share a tent.

  1. All Tasmanian men not in the above ‘House’ categories.
  2. Interstate men who normally camp anyway at a TMG and bring their own gear.
  3. Interstate men who would be happy to camp but will need camping equipment provided (ie tents, sleeping mats) or are happy to share a tent.

Campsite. There will be a designated camp site with portaloos and hand wash stations. Some campers will be allocated spots in the large back gardens of the houses.

Showers / Shaving / Toilets. All campers will be allocated a ‘house’. We are trying to use the existing grey water and sewerage infrastructure in the houses as much as possible and to share the load.

Logistically, TMG 2017 will be a bit different but the organization is under way to ensure that the food is great, we will have a big communal dining area and that we will be comfortable. Pulling it all together will also be a real community effort.

Please select what accommodation you would like and let us know what camping gear you need or what camping gear you are willing to lend:

E.g. "I can share my 2 man tent with one other man" or "I have a spare 2 man tent that I can bring with me".

Costs of the Long Weekend
(includes accommodation, meals and program)

TMG is once more offering a $50 Early Bird discount to help us plan and cater for the weekend. This is great incentive, so please book early, save money, and help the TMG Team. If you want to come but have financial difficulties, contact the Gatekeeper at to discuss options. TasMen may be able to offer some applicants support with a Bursary. Talk to the Gatekeeper. See below for details.

Cook & Kitchen Volunteers. The TMG Cook / Kitchen Team work hard and attend a TMG for no charge. Paddy Murray is running the cook team in 2017. Contact Paddy at if you are interested in being part of the Cook / Kitchen Team. Paddy will let you know if you are selected for the team.

Bring someone new to the next TMG! We will apply a $50 discount or credit you when they register.
